FORT WORTH, TX (July 11, 2023) – The Panther City Lacrosse Club has acquired the negotiating rights to defenseman Matt Beers and the fifth overall selection in the 2023 NLL Entry Draft from the Saskatchewan Rush. In return, Panther City has sent forward Patrick Dodds and Cam Wengreniuk to the Rush.

If Beers were to sign elsewhere, Panther City would then receive a second-round selection in either the 2024 or 2025 NLL Entry Draft and would then send Saskatchewan a third-round selection in the same year of the selection Panther City receives.

“We want to thank Patrick and Cam for all their hard work and contributions to our club,” Panther City Lacrosse Club General Manager Bob Hamley said. “Patrick was an instrumental piece of our success that we have had in our two short years and including him in this was not an easily made decision, but one we feel is best for Patrick and Panther City.”

“We look forward to working with Matt and hope to see him in a Panther City uniform for years to come, as he would be another great addition to our back end unit that has taken tremendous strides under the leadership of Coach Kelusky and Coach Toll,” Hamley stated.

Beers, entering his 13th season in the NLL, appeared in all 18 games for the Rush last season and totaled 75 loose balls and 18 caused turnovers, while registering 12 points (3G/9A).
