118 Titans Named to Academic All-CCIW Spring Squad
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University athletic department saw 119 spring student-athletes named to the Dave Wrath Academic All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin team the league office announced Thursday, June 15. Senior softball player Madison Moore (Verona, Wis.-Edgewood) and senior men’s lacrosse standout Carson Kiichle (Vancouver, Wash.-Skyview) were named Jack Swartz Award honorees.
The CCIW Dave Wrath Academic All-Conference list comprises those individuals that achieved an overall grade-point average of 3.30 or above and have served at least one year in residency at their respective school.
Each CCIW member institution selects two student-athletes (one male & one female) from each of the three sport seasons (fall, winter, spring) to be honored as Jack Swartz Academic All-Conference members. To be eligible, an individual must have an overall grade point average of 3.50 or above and have served at least one year in residency at their respective school.
Moore and Kiichle join Lexi Onsrud (women’s golf), Anthony Wacahl Jr. (football), Lauren Wong (women’s indoor track & field), and Ethan Lowder (men’s swimming) as IWU’s Jack Swartz Award selections for the 2022-23 academic year.
The Co-CCIW Hitter of the Year, Moore graduated with a degree in biology last month. She wrapped up a sensational career with the best season of her four-year run as a Titan. Moore was a First Team All-CCIW pick, a NFCA First Team All-Region selection, the team’s Most Valuable Player, and a Gold Glove nominee. She hit a career-high and team-leading .363 with 49 hits. Moore, a CCIW Hitter of the Week honoree, swiped a team-high 16 bases on the year. She led the Titans with a .426 on-base percentage behind a team-high 17 walks. She scored 24 runs, the third-most on the team, and tallied nine doubles, three triples, and three homers.
Kiichle also wrapped up an exceptional career this spring, doing so with the best year of his career. He finished the year with a team-best 94 points, aided by a program record 56 assists over 19 games. A First Team All-CCIW selection, Kiichle was named United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division III All-America Honorable Mention. He was also named the CCIW Player of the Week, March 7, and earned a spot on the USILA Dynamic Team of the Week, March 8. His 2.95 assists per game average was the ninth-highest in the nation, ranked first among the CCIW, and set a new single-season record for the Green and White. Kiichle’s 4.95 points per game average put him at 36th nationally, while his 0.475 shot percentage ranked 25th.
