GREENWOOD, Ind. – Illinois Wesleyan University saw five Titan student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District At-Large Team, announced Tuesday, May 23. Men’s Lacrosse saw three receive honors, while men’s golf and men’s volleyball each had one.

Seniors Carson Kiichle (Vancouver, Wash.-Skyview) and Connor Kiichle (Vancouver, Wash.-Skyview), along with junior Ethan Hart (Littleton, Colo.-J.K. Mullen) represented the men’s lacrosse team on the ballot. Men’s golf’s Quinn Clifford (Chicago, Ill.-Brother Rice) and Jake Kougan (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) of men’s volleyball rounded out IWU’s honorees.

Carson Kiichle, a design, technology, and entrepreneurship major, led the offensive attack for the 2023 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Regular Season and Tournament Champions, finishing with a team-high 94 goals on 38 goals and 56 assists. His 56 helpers shattered the program’s single-season assist. He picked up his third straight First Team All-CCIW honor, and served as a co-captain on a squad that reached the NCAA Tournament Second Round.

A business administration major, Connor Kiichle was second on the team with 72 points, a mix of 40 goals and 32 assists. Also a co-captain, the senior picked up Second Team All-CCIW honors, marking the third season he has been named to an all-conference team. Connor Kiichle was one of two players in conference play to finish in the top-10 in both goals and assists.

Hart received the CCIW’s Elite 26 award, modeled after the NCAA’s Elite 90 award, which is given to the player with the highest GPA in the conference championship game. An accounting major, Hart was a crucial part of the electric Titan defense throughout the season. The junior played in all 19 games, and started 18. He finished with 44 ground balls, 17 caused turnovers, two goals, and one assist.

Kougan, a sophomore, became the first men’s volleyball player to receive the award, as the program just completed its third season of collegiate action. Kougan appeared in all 25 matches, and started 20. He finished second on the team in total blocks with 40, and added 98 kills, 35 digs, and 13 service aces. The sophomore helped guide the Green and White to its first season with double-digit wins.

A business major with a 4.0 grade point average, Clifford reeled in the CCIW’s Elite 26 Award following a first-place finish at the conference championship. He was a two-time CCIW Men’s Golfer of the Week and also reeled in Golf Coaches Association of America PING All-Region honors. Clifford played 27 rounds on the season, registering 10 rounds of par-or-better. He set the program record with a round of 63 at the Carthage Fall Classic, Sept 10. Overall, he finished with four top-five finishes across 10 events.
