Men’s Lacrosse to Host Transy in CCIW Tournament Title Game
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team will take on Transylvania University Saturday, May 6, with its eyes set on its fifth College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament title. The Titans and Pioneers will square off at Tucci Stadium with the championship game set for 1 p.m.
The top-seeded Titans advanced to their conference-best sixth title game with a 15-9 win over fourth-seeded Carthage, May 4. Meanwhile, the Pioneers upended second-seeded North Central, 14-10.
Saturday’s showdown will mark a rematch of last season’s semifinal bout at Tucci that saw Transy stun IWU, 18-16. Illinois Wesleyan won this season’s regular season meeting, 19-9, in Bloomington April 22, 2022. Overall, the Titans and Pioneers have met four times ahead of Saturday with the series level at 2-2.
The winner of Saturday’s championship bout will earn the CCIW’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
