Denver Women’s Lacrosse Ranks No. 3 in Polls

DENVER – The University of Denver women’s lacrosse team stayed at No. 3 in both national polls on Monday after the latest Inside Lacrosse Women/IWLCA coaches and the Nike/USA Lacrosse Magazine rankings were released.
 
The Pioneers remain at their highest ranking in program history and are the only undefeated team in the nation at 16-0 after former No. 1 Syracuse fell to then-No. 5 Boston College. Denver won 15-2 on Saturday against Georgetown in its final home game of the regular season.
 
Northwestern (15-1) is the new No. 1 team in the country, garnering 587 points and 14 first-place votes. Syracuse (15-1) dropped to second with 580 points (seven first-place votes), while Denver is third with 541 points and earning two first-place nods. Boston College (13-3) moved up to No. 4 (532 points, 1 first-place vote).
 
The Big East Conference has three teams in the IL Women/IWLCA ranking, as Connecticut moved up to No. 23 and Marquette entered the poll at No. 24.
 
The Pioneers have five wins this year against ranked opponents, having beat No. 21 Michigan on March 1, No. 5 Maryland on March 5, No. 4 Boston College in Jacksonville on March 19, No. 21 Jacksonville on March 22 and No. 25 Connecticut on April 8.
 
UP NEXT: Denver takes on Marquette (15-1, 5-0 Big East) in the regular-season finale on Saturday at 11 a.m. MT in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The winner of the game will earn the Big East regular-season championship.
