Senior Luke Pilcher tallied three goals and two assists, while senior TJ Hendricks finished with three goals and three assists. Sophomore Ethan Harkins had two goals and an assist, and senior Dylan Bruno scored two goals. First-year Nick DiLauro scored his first two collegiate goals.
 
Graduate student goalie Will Sterrett made 12 saves to earn the win. Junior Nick Farrell won 11-of-15 draws, while sophomore Carson Taylor had six ground balls.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Pilcher scored twice in a three-goal run by RIT to start the game. He scored off an assist from junior Seth Grottenthaler 34-seconds into the game to give the Tigers the lead, and again off a feed from senior Joh Mozrall with 13:01 to play in the quarter to make it 3-0, Tiger. Sophomore Sam Bennett scored to give RIT a 2-0 lead.
  • Skidmore’s Jack Whalen scored with 9:43 to play in the quarter to cut the RIT lead to 3-1.
  • Gaston scored two straight to give RIT a 5-1 lead, and Harkins scored off an assist from senior Erik Jakobsze with 3:43 to play in the first to give the Tigers a 6-1 lead.
  • Skidmore ran off four straight goals, cutting the Tigers’ lead to 6-5 on Jon Bouvier’s goal with 12:54 to play in the half.
  • Gaston broke the Thoroughbreds run with his goal with 11:04 to play in the half to give the Tigers a 7-5 lead.
  • Bruno and sophomore Axel Sanderson scored back-to-back goals late in the first half to give the Tigers a 9-5 lead at the break.
  • Pilcher had a goal and two assists in a four-goal RIT run to begin the third quarter. Bruno, Hendricks and Gaston each scored to give the Tigers an eight-goal advantage.
  • Brian Gonsalves scored two straight goals late in the third quarter to cut the RIT lead to 13-7.
  • Jon Bouvier scored early in the fourth quarter to make the score 13-8.
  • Hendricks, Gaston and DiLauro each scored twice in an eight-goal run for RIT, including two straight from DiLauro in the closing minutes to make it a 21-8 final.

 
GAME NOTES

  • RIT outshot Skidmore, 59-40.
  • RIT had 63 ground balls and went 31-of-26 on clearing attempts.
  • The Tigers were 3-for-3 on man-up and won 22-of-33 face-offs.
  • With the win, RIT clinches at least a share of the Liberty League regular-season title.
