The Tewaaraton Foundation released the list of 50 total players on Thursday, with 25 women and 25 men being nominated. Five women and five men will be selected as finalists from this group on May 11, and the award will be announced to this year’s winner in a ceremony on June 1 in Washington, D.C.

McPherson is in her first season at DU as a graduate student after previously playing at Johns Hopkins University. She is first on the team with 37 ground balls, ranks second with 42 draw controls and is third with 23 caused turnovers. The Baltimore, Maryland, native has also added four goals and four assists on the season, the first points of her career and the most on the team by a defender.

Thacker paces the Pioneers with 37 caused turnovers while ranking second with 34 ground balls and fourth with 26 draw controls. The senior from Lutherville, Maryland, is one of six players in the country with at least 30 caused turnovers, 30 ground balls and 20 draw controls.
