DENVER – The University of Denver women’s lacrosse team held its spot as the No. 3-ranked team in the country in both the Inside Lacrosse Women/IWLCA coaches and the Nike/USA Lacrosse Magazine polls on Monday.
The Pioneers stay at their highest ranking in program history after winning both of their contests over the weekend. DU defeated Stanford 15-8 on Friday afternoon and won 23-6 at Xavier on Sunday, improving to 15-0 on the season and 4-0 in Big East Conference play.
Denver and No. 1 Syracuse (15-0) are the only undefeated teams in Division-I. The Pioneers have five wins this year against ranked opponents, having beat No. 21 Michigan on March 1, No. 5 Maryland on March 5, No. 4 Boston College in Jacksonville on March 19, No. 21 Jacksonville on March 22 and No. 25 Connecticut on April 8.
UConn is the only other Big East squad ranked at No. 25.
Syracuse stayed at No. 1 in the country in both national polls for the fifth-straight week and received all 22 first-place votes. Northwestern ranks second with a 14-1 record.
