The University of Denver women’s lacrosse team remained at No. 3 in the country in both the Inside Lacrosse Women/IWLCA coaches and the Nike/USA Lacrosse Magazine polls after the latest national rankings were released on Monday.
The Pioneers stay at their highest ranking in program history after winning both of their contests last week. DU improved to 13-0 on the season and 3-0 in Big East Conference play after defeating Butler 19-4 on Wednesday at home and winning 14-9 at No. 25 Connecticut on Saturday. UConn is the only other Big East squad ranked, as the Huskies remain at No. 25.
DU and No. 1 Syracuse (14-0) are lone undefeated teams in Division-I. The Pioneers have five wins this year against ranked opponents, having also beat No. 21 Michigan on March 1, No. 5 Maryland on March 5, No. 4 Boston College in Jacksonville on March 19 and No. 21 Jacksonville on March 22.
Syracuse stayed at No. 1 in the country in both national polls for the fourth-straight week and received all 21 first-place votes. Northwestern ranks second with a 13-1 record.
UP NEXT: Denver has another two-game week ahead as the Pioneers host the Stanford Cardinal under the lights at Peter Barton Stadium on Friday at 7 p.m. MT before traveling to play Xavier on Sunday at 9 a.m. MT in the first-ever meeting between the squads.
About the ILWomen/IWLCA Poll: Unveiled on Mondays throughout the season, the poll is voted on jointly by coaches throughout the country and members of the media.
