COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 19 Ohio State men’s lacrosse team plays its final home game of the regular season this week, hosting No. 5 Maryland at Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium on Friday. The Buckeyes (5-5, 1-1 B1G) and Terrapins (6-3, 1-1 B1G) meet under the lights in Columbus with first faceoff set for 8 p.m. ET.

2023 Senior Class

  • Prior to Friday’s game, the Ohio State men’s lacrosse team will recognize its 2023 senior class.
  • The group features 18 individuals: Drew Blanchard, Kyle Borda, James Cipolla, Sam Faber, Carter Hilleary, James Hogan, Caton Johnson, Jason Knox, Connor Mitchell, Jack Myers, Garrett Nilsen, Mitchell Pehlke, Carson Rainey, Colby Smith, Jake Snyder, Skylar Wahlund, Scott White and Stephen Zupicich,
  • The 2023 senior class has combined for 32 wins. The group was a part of the Buckeyes’ return to the NCAA Tournament in 2022 for the first time in five years.
  • The members of this year’s senior class have strengthened the program’s standard of excellence, accumulating over 600 community service hours and setting program records in the classroom.

Briefly on the Buckeyes

  • Ohio State is 5-1 at Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium headed into Friday’s regular season home finale.
  • The Buckeyes boast one of the toughest schedules in the NCAA this season, facing seven ranked opponents in 10 games. The team is 14th in the RPI and has played five teams who are in the top-10.
  • Twenty-three players have recorded a point this season for Ohio State, including 20 with at least one goal on the year. Seven players have recorded 10 or more points.
  • Ohio State ranks second in the Big Ten on the extra man advantage, converting 46.4% in man-up situations.
  • Four Buckeyes were named Midseason All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse. Bobby Van Buren earned Third Team honors while Jack Myers garnered an honorable mention nod.
  • Myers continues to lead the Buckeyes with 31 points on the year. He has recorded a team-high 18 assists and scored 13 goals for Ohio State.
  • Ed Shean has tallied a team-high 19 goals this year. He’s second on the team in points, adding seven assists for 27 points this season.
  • Skylar Wahlund has started all ten games in goal for the Buckeyes. He has a save percentage of .488 on the year with 110 saves this year.
  • Wahlund leads the team with 33 ground balls on the year, followed by Cullen Brown with 20.
  • Jason Knox has scored four of his five goals on the extra-man opportunity.
  • Marcus Hudgins leads the team with 13 caused turnovers on the year.

Last Time Out

  • Ohio State fell to Penn State in its last game, 17-9.
  • Kyle Borda paced Ohio State’s attack with three goals for his sixth multi-goal game of his Buckeye career.
  • Matt Caputo scored one of his two goals of the day on the EMO and is now tied for the team lead with four man-up goals on the year.
  • The Buckeyes forced Penn State to give up its second-most turnovers on the year (19).

History vs. Maryland

  • Ohio State looks to earn its first win over Maryland since the 2018 season on Friday.
  • The Buckeyes have won three games in the all-time series – 2018, 2017 and 2015.
  • The first time the teams met was in the 1990 season.
