First-year Zoe Heffernan scored three goals, while classmate Serafina Kiselgof scored two goals. Sophomore Lily DePalma had two assists and graduate student goalie Michelle Messenger made 15 saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kiselgof scored off an assist from DePalma 36 seconds into the game to give the Tigers the lead.
- William Smith scored four straight goals to lead 4-1 after the first quarter, and the first six goals of the second quarter to extend its lead to 10-1.
- First-year Morgan Nichter scored her second goal of the season with 5:47 to play in the first half to cut the deficit to 10-2.
- Hlywa scored the first of a three-goal run for RIT to begin the third quarter. Senior Baylee West and Heffernan scored to cut the Heron’s lead to 12-5.
- William Smith scored two straight goals to take a 14-5 lead late in the third quarter.
- Senior Kayleigh Ground scored off an assist from Hlywa with 2:12 to play in the third to make the score 14-6.
- Heffernan scored two of the Tigers’ three fourth-quarter goals, including her third of the game with 54 seconds to play to make the score 18-9.
- William Smith scored with 19 seconds remaining to make it a 19-9 final.
GAME NOTES
- William Smith outshot RIT, 41-17.
- RIT won 17-of-31 draw controls and went 13-of-18 on clearing attempts.
- The Tigers scooped up eight ground balls.
