DENVER – Senior Julia Gilbert of the Denver Pioneers women’s lacrosse team has been named the Big East Attacker of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Gilbert recorded four goals and three assists on Saturday in DU’s 17-4 win at home against Villanova in the first contest of league play. The seven points were the most she’s had in an outing this year, while her four markers tied a season high and her three assists matched a career high (two times previously).
The last time she had three assists in a game was on May 7, 2022 in the Big East Championship Game versus Georgetown when she combined for a career-high eight points (5g/3a).
Gilbert leads the Pioneers with 28 goals and 32 points this season. The McLean, Virginia, native has scored in all 11 games this year and has registered multiple tallies in each of the last nine contests. She is also first on the team in shots (57), shots on goal (40), game-winning goals (five) and free-position goals (10-for-12).
This is Gilbert’s second Attacker of the Week award of the season and the fifth of her career.
Fellow senior Ellie Curry was named to the Big East Honor Roll after recording three goals, one assist, two ground balls and one caused turnover against Villanova. It was Curry’s second hat trick of the season and her third game with four or more points this season.
