DU Women’s Lacrosse Moves Up to No. 3 in Polls

DENVER – The University of Denver women’s lacrosse team ranks third in both national polls after the Inside Lacrosse Women/IWLCA coaches and the Nike/USA Lacrosse Magazine rankings were released on Monday.
 
The Pioneers improve on their highest ranking in program history and remain undefeated on the season  at 11-0. Denver earned a 17-4 victory against Villanova in the Big East Conference opener on Saturday.
 
DU is one of three undefeated teams in the Division-I along with No. 1 Syracuse (13-0) and No. 14/13 Army (11-0). The Pioneers have four wins this year against ranked opponents: No. 21 Michigan on March 1, No. 5 Maryland on March 5, No. 4 Boston College in Jacksonville on March 19 and No. 21 Jacksonville on March 22.
 
Syracuse stayed at No. 1 in the country in both national polls for the second-straight week. North Carolina dropped from No. 3 to No. 5 in the rankings after falling 16-12 at then-No. 12 Notre Dame.
 
UP NEXT: Denver continues conference play this week with a pair of games. DU hosts Butler on Wednesday at 1 p.m. MT before going on the road to play No. 25 Connecticut on Saturday at 10 a.m. MT.
