Senior attack Luke Pilcher scored two goals and had two assists, while senior John Mozrall had a goal and three assists.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Cortland scored the first three goals of the game, taking a 3-0 lead on Bobby Kratochvil’s goal with 8:18 to play in the quarter.
  • RIT scored the next four goals to lead 4-3 after the first quarter. Graduate student Zeb Hollinger got the Tigers on the board with his goal with 5:59 to play, while Mozrall and seniors Dylan Bruno and Caiden each scored to give RIT the lead.
  • Hendricks scored off an assist from Mozrall early in the second quarter to give the Tigers a 5-3 lead.
  • Cortland’s Ryan Smith broke the Tigers run with his goal with 11:37 to play in the half that cut the RIT lead to 5-4.
  • Pilcher and junior Kaden Brunson scored consecutive goals late in the half to give the Tigers a 7-4 at the break.
  • Pilcher, Hendricks and junior Seth Grottenthaler each scored early in the third quarter to increase the RIT lead to 10-4.
  • Cortland answered with two straight goals, cutting the Tigers lead to 10-6 on Jason Chiodo’s man-up goal with 13 seconds to play in the third quarter.
  • Hendricks and senior Spencer Bell scored back-to-back goals to begin the fourth quarter, taking a 12-6 lead on Bell’s goal with 5:51 to play in the quarter.
  • Troy Morris scored a man-up goal with 4:33 remaining to cut the RIT lead to 12-7.
  • Junior Ian Dinga scored off an assist from sophomore Sam Bennett with 3:40 to play to make it 13-7, and Sam Rothman scored for Cortland inside the final five minutes to make it a 13-8 final.

 
GAME NOTES

  • RIT outshot Cortland, 51-32.
  • The Tigers won 17-of-25 face offs and had 40 ground balls
  • RIT graduate student goalie Will Sterrett made eight saves to earn the win.
  • Senior Ethan Stiles won nine draw, while junior defenseman Michael Grace had six ground balls and caused five turnovers.
