Men’s Lacrosse Eyes CCIW Opener at Carroll

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Riding a three-game win streak, the Illinois Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team motors up to Schneider Stadium Saturday, April 1, for the start of College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play as the Titans take on Carroll University. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.

The Titans enter league play with a 6-3 record and carry a three-game win streak into the conference portion of the season. IWU most recently took down Aurora University, 16-7, March 29 to close out non-conference play. Meanwhile, Carroll moved to 3-8 on the year with a 8-3 win over Concordia-Chicago, March 29. The Pios, who have shown drastic improvement, have their most wins in a season since 2017.

Three Titans have eclipsed 20 goals on the season, with junior Ike Eastburn (Colorado Springs, Colo.-Cheyenne Mountain) topping the team with 23 goals. He has also added a pair of assists and sits third in points with 25. Senior Carson Kiichle (Vancouver, Wash.-Skyview) is the team leader in assists, having been credited with 25 on the season, to go along with 20 goals. Behind Carson Kiichle’s team-best 45 points, senior Connor Kiichle (Vancouver, Wash.-Skyview) is second with 20 goals and 15 assists for 35 points.

Sophomore Nick Schroeder (Waunakee, Wis.-Waunakee) has led the way at the X, going 114-for-155 in faceoffs en route to a team-high 60 ground balls. Carson Kiichle and junior Michael Campagna (Arlington Heights, Ill.-St. Viator) are tied for second with 33 ground balls, while sophomore Jake Gisi (Wentzville, Mo.-Chaminade College Prep) is third with 28.

On the defensive end, senior Blake Muschewske (Excelsior, Minn.-Holy Family Catholic) has been credited with 17 caused turnovers. Campagna has added 14 CTs.

The duo of sophomore Colin Tervo (West Linn, Ore.-West Linn) and junior Alex Oximana (Seattle, Wash.-Bishop Blanchet) have been strong in goal. Tervo has 77 saves on the season with a 5-2 record, while Oximana has notched 23 stops between the posts.
