Nina Montes Named Ivy League Offensive Player Of The Week
Nina Montes was a one-woman wrecking crew in the first half of Princeton’s 15-11 win at Cornell on Saturday, scoring five times in the opening 30:00 of play — and netting six total goals in the game — to earn Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Montes scored all four of Princeton’s goals in the second quarter, helping the Tigers turn a five-goal deficit into just a two-goal disadvantage at halftime. Out of intermission, she struck for her sixth goal 2:38 in to bring the Tigers even with the Big Red at 8-8.
The six-point day was the second of the season for Montes, following up a 4g, 2a day in the season opener against Virginia.
Montes and the Tigers head to No. 10 Maryland on Wednesday, taking on the Terps in College Park at 8 p.m.
