Men’s Lacrosse Downs Dubuque – Illinois Wesleyan University Athletics


DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team took down the University of Dubuque, 17-5, Saturday, March 25. The win moves the Titans to 5-3 on the season, while Dubuque drops to 3-5. 

The Titans saw a balanced offensive attack led by junior Trystan Seeley’s (Castle Rock, Colo.-Castle View) four points, coming on two goals and two assists. Juniors Gage Black (Peoria, Ill.-Dunlap) and Bob Boone (Los Angeles, Calif.-Notre Dame) each recorded a match-high three goals. Seniors Carson Kiichle (Seattle, Wash.-Skyview) and Connor Kiichle (Seattle, Wash.-Skyview) finished with a trio of points as well. Nine other Titans registered at least one point in the win. 

Defensively, freshman Michael Rocco (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville) led the Green and White with six ground balls, followed by senior Blake Muschewske’s (Excelsior, Minn.-Holy Family Catholic) four. Muschewske caused two turnovers, tied for the most by a player in the match. 

In the x, Rocco finished 12-of-19, while junior Zo Lombardo (Elgin, Ill.-Saint Viator) added three wins on six face offs for the Titans. 

Sophomore Colin Tervo (West Linn, Ore.-West Linn) got the win between the posts, as he made six saves while allowing two goals in 30 minutes, bumping his record to 5-2. Junior Alex Oximana (Seattle, Wash.-Bishop Blanchet) finished the game in goal, making two saves while allowing three goals. 

The Titans quickly took the lead in the match, as Lombardo capitalized off a faceoff win, as he ran down and found the back of the net six seconds into the game, putting IWU ahead 1-0. 

UD would answer at the 11:28 mark, and the game would remain tied for the next six minutes of action. Black would put the Titans back out in front, 2-1, with 5:12 remaining in the first period, but Dubuque quickly equalized the score at two all. 

Illinois Wesleyan would rattle off 10 straight goals to help secure the victory, cruising to a 17-5 victory.
