Titans Trek to Dubuque for Non-Conference Bout

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team travels to Dubuque, Iowa Saturday, March 25, for a non-conference game against the University of Dubuque. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.

Illinois Wesleyan is 4-3 on the season, most recently picking up a 20-14 win over Hope College, March 22. Meanwhile, Dubuque carries a 3-4 record amid a four-game stint against College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin competition. The Spartans, a former member of the CCIW in men’s lacrosse, bested Augustana, 16-6, March 22, after falling at Carthage, 17-9, March 19.

Saturday will mark the ninth all-time meeting between the Titans and Spartans in a series that dates back to 2014. IWU holds an 8-0 record against UD with a 3-0 tally in Dubuque. The Titans snagged a 16-5 win in Dubuque last season. In its last trip to Dubuque, the Green and White defeated UD 26-6.

The Kiichle brothers, Carson and Connor, pace the Titan attack. Carson Kiichle (Vancouver, Wash.-Skyview) has a team-best 36 points on the year and leads the team with 20 assists. His 16 goals are tied for second-most on the squad alongside Connor Kiichle (Vancouver, Wash.-Skyview). Connor Kiichle has 29 points via 16 goals and 13 helpers. Junior Ike Eastburn (Colorado Springs, Ill.-Cheyenne Mountain) tops the team with 19 goals, while Gage Black (Peoria, Ill.-Dunlap) and Trystan Seeley (Castle Rock, Colo.-Castle View) have 14 and 12 goals, respectively.

Sophomore Nick Schroeder (Waunakee, Wis.-Waunakee) has won 75.4 percent of his faceoffs, going 101-for-134 at the X. Schroeder’s 54 ground balls are a team-best, while Carson Kiichle is second with 30. 

Defensively, junior Michael Campagna (Arlington Heights, Ill.-St. Viator) leads IWU with a dozen caused turnovers. Senior Blake Muschewske (Excelsior, Minn.-Holy Family Catholic) has noticed 11 on the year. 

In goal, sophomore Colin Tervo (West Linn, Ore.-West Linn) has made 66 saves and posted a 4-2 record. Junior Alex Oximana (Seattle, Wash.-Bishop Blanchet), who returned to action against Hope for the first time since IWU’s opener, has a .515 save percentage with 17 saves on the year.
