Men’s Lacrosse Set to Host Hope Wednesday Night

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team returns to action at home Wednesday night, March 22, with a 7:30 p.m. battle against Hope College inside Tucci Stadium. The game will mark IWU’s return to action for the first time in more than 10 days.
Illinois Wesleyan enters the bout following a tight 11-9 setback at No. 8 Dickinson College more than 10 days ago, March 11. The Titans record sits at 3-3 on the season and 2-2 at home. Hope travels to Bloomington with an even record as well at 3-3 on the year. The Flying Dutchmen enter the game on the heels of a 12-8 loss at Rhodes College, March 18.
The trio of Carson Kiichle (Vancouver, Wash.-Skyview), Connor Kiichle (Vancouver, Wash.-Skyview), and Ike Eastburn (Colorado Springs, Colo.-Cheyenne Mountain) have led the Titan attack this season. Carson Kiichle has a team-best 32 points and leads the team with 18 assists, while tallying 14 goals. Eastburn’s 17 goals are the most on the team, while Connor Kiichle has been credited with 11 goals and 11 assists.
Sophomore Nick Schroeder (Waunakee, Wis.-Waunakee) holds a .733 faceoff percentage and paces the team with 38 ground balls. Carson Kiichle is second on the squad with 27 ground balls.
The defensive duo of Michael Campagna (Arlington Heights, Ill.-St. Viator) and Blake Muschewske (Excelsior, Minn.-Holy Family Catholic) top IWU with 10 caused turnovers apiece. Sophomore Colin Tervo (West Linn, Ore.-West Linn) is 3-2 on the season in goal, holds a .500 save percentage, and has made 59 saves.
Nationally, IWU is ranked in the top-25 of Division III in six different statistical categories. Illinois Wesleyan is 22nd in the country with 297 ground balls and fourth with 49.5 ground balls per game. The Green and White’s 13.50 caused turnovers per contest are 18th-best, while the opponent clear percentage of .691 is 15th.
