McCaughey Named IWLCA Defensive Player of the Week

DENVER – University of Denver women’s lacrosse junior defender Bryn McCaughey has been named the IWLCA Defensive Player of the Week, the coaches’ association announced on Tuesday.
 
McCaughey had seven caused turnovers and four ground balls between Denver’s two victories against Delaware and No. 4 Boston College. The Leesburg, Va., native also scored a goal in transition in Denver’s Monday afternoon win against Delaware.
 
In Denver’s 13-8 win over No. 4 Boston College on Sunday, McCaughey had three caused turnovers and three ground balls to lead a Denver defense that held the 16th-ranked scoring offense in the country to nearly seven goals below its average.
 
As a team, Denver moved up to fourth in the polls Monday morning, breaking into the top-5 for the first time in the program’s Division I history.
 
UP NEXT: Denver will wrap-up its Spring Break trip to Jacksonville on Wednesday when the Pioneers take on the 21st-ranked Dolphins. Opening draw on ESPN+ is set for 11 a.m. MT.
