ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Three RIT student-athletes were honored by the Liberty League with Player of the Week recognition, announced Monday, March 20.

First-year attack Adele Jones recorded nine points on four goals and five assists and won 23 draw-controls to help RIT to a 3-0 record. She won nine draw controls and had an assist in RIT’s 19-5 win over Farmingdale State, Monday in Florida, and tallied two goals, two assists and won eight draws in the Tigers 15-11 win over Marywood, Wednesday. Jones recorded two goals, two assists and won six draw controls in the Tigers 15-9 win at Clarkson, Saturday.

On the men’s side, junior swimmer Drew Scheib was the Male Swimmer of the Week, while sophomore attack Clifford Gaston was the Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Performer of the Week.

Scheib finished seventh in a time of 1:47.97 and is the first RIT male swimmer to be named All-American since Erik Zelbacher in 2006. He posted a program-record time of 1:47.33 to finish sixth in the 200 butterfly preliminaries, Friday morning, shaving .60 seconds off his old record set at the Liberty League Championships. Scheib is making his first appearance at the NCAA Championships.

Gaston recorded 10 points on nine goals and an assist in two games last week. The sophomore attack tallied six goals and added an assist in RIT’s 15-11 loss to No. 3 Christopher Newport, Friday in Maryland. Gaston scored three goals in the Tigers 20-9 win at Stevenson, Saturday. He fired 13 shots, including 10 on target and had five ground balls.
