Curry and McCaughey Bring Home BIG EAST Weekly Honors

DENVER – University of Denver women’s lacrosse student-athletes Ellie Curry and Bryn McCaughey were named the BIG EAST Midfielder and BIG EAST Defender of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
 
Curry scored a hat trick for Denver in its 13-8 win over then-No. 4 Boston College on Sunday afternoon. The senior midfielder also added an assist, three ground balls and a draw control over the two games this week. Curry notched three assists in Denver’s 13-6 win over Delaware in the Pios 2-0 week.
 
McCaughey totaled six caused turnovers, four ground balls and a draw control over the two games last week. McCaughey also scored the second goal of her career in Denver’s Monday afternoon win over Delaware.
 
As a team, Denver moved up to fourth in the polls Monday morning, breaking into the top-5 for the first time in the program’s Division I history.
 
UP NEXT: The Pioneers will remain in the Sunshine State this week before taking on No. 21 Jacksonville on Wednesday at 11 a.m. MT. Wednesday’s game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
