Junior defenseman Michael Grace had nine ground balls, caused four turnovers and scored a goal. Senior midfielder John Mozrall had two goals and three assists, while sophomore attack Clifford Gaston had three goals. Seniors Spencer Bell and TJ Hendricks and junior Ian Dinga each scored two goals.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Gaston and Pilcher each scored twice in the Tiger’s 6-0 run to begin the game.
  • Mozrall and Hendricks each scored in the quarter.
  • Stevenson’s Shane Ford broke the Tigers’ run with his goal with 3:28 remaining in the quarter, before Grace stripped a Mustang and scored with three minutes to play to give RIT a 7-1 lead.
  • RIT outscored the Mustangs 6-0 in the second quarter including man-up tallies from Hendricks and Gaston late in the half to give the Tigers a 13-1 lead at the break.
  • Stevenson outscored RIT 4-3 in the third quarter, including three straight goals to cut the Tigers lead to 14-4.
  • Bell scored off an assist from junior Kaden Brunson with 4:21 remaining, and Pilcher scored off an assist from junior midfielder Seth Grottenthaler with 3:14 to play to give the Tigers a 16-5 lead.
  • Dinga capped off a 3-0 RIT run to start the fourth quarter with goal with 9:51 to play to give the Tigers a 19-5 lead.
  • The Mustangs ran off four straight goals to cut the RIT lead to 19-9, but first-year attack Tyson Allison scored in the final minutes to make it a 20-9 final.

 
GAME NOTES

  • RIT outshot Stevenson, 51-30
  • The Tigers won the ground-ball battle, 51-24 and were 21-of-24 on clearing attempts.
  • RIT was 5-of-7 on man-up and won 25-of-33 face-offs.
  • Graduate student Ethan Stiles was 16-of-19 on draws and had four ground balls.
  • RIT junior goalie Kyle Burbank made five saves to earn the win.
