DENVER – The No. 6 Denver Pioneers women’s lacrosse team returns to the road this week for a neutral site game in Jacksonville’s Rock Stadium against No. 4 Boston College. Opening draw is set for Sunday at 1 p.m. ET/11 a.m. MT.

The two programs are working on a streaming solution for Sunday’s game and will provide an update on their social media platforms on Sunday morning.

Denver is coming off back-to-back home wins to improve to 8-0 to start the season for the first time in program history. The Pioneers defeated Niagara 17-5 before turning around and beating Delaware 13-6 a few days later. Trinity McPherson was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week. Julia Gilbert became the 12th-fastest Pioneer to 100 goals in the program’s Division I history.

The Pioneers defense enters the week ranked first in the country in scoring defense at 5.62 goals per game. Denver is also second in caused turnovers per game at 12.25. DU has double digit caused turnovers in each of its first eight games this season, short of only the 11-straight games to start the 2021 campaign.

Sunday’s match-up sees two of the top three teams in senior class wins (games 2019-present) clash in the Sunshine State. North Carolina leads the way with 73 wins, Boston College is 69-14 and the Pioneers are 65-10 since the start of the 2019 campaign.

In its Division I history, Denver is 20-3 when ranked in the top-10 but is 7-30 all-time when playing an opponent ranked in the top-10. Junior draw specialist Abby Jenkins is 13 draws shy of Kiki Boone’s Denver Division I career record of 225.

Boston College enters the top-6 battle at 6-2 on the season with wins over No. 18 USC, No. 23 UMass, No. 10 Duke and No. 24 Clemson already in the bank. BC’s two losses have come against No. 5 Northwestern and No. 1 North Carolina.

The Eagles have won all five of the previous meetings between the two programs, including 9-5 in three quarters at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium last March and 13-8 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in Massachusetts last May.
