Kiichle & Schroeder Selected as CCIW Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team swept the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin weekly awards Tuesday, March 7, as senior Carson Kiichle (Vancouver, Wash.-Skyview) and sophomore Nick Schroeder (Waunakee, Wis.-Waunakee) reeled in honors. Kiichle was tabbed the league’s Offensive Player of the Week, with Schroeder garnering defensive honors.
Kiichle earned the award for the third time in his career, while the recognition was the first in the career of Schroeder.
The duo led IWU to a 3-0 week, which included wins over Benedictine University (19-10), Milwaukee School of Engineering (30-4), and Whittier College (16-15 OT).
Kiichle led the offensive firepower of the Titans, scoring 12 goals and assisting on 10 others, over the three-games stretch. He finished with 22 points, posting nine-point efforts at Benedictine and against Whiiter. Kiichle added 12 ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.
Schroeder, who missed the first two games of the season, made the most of his opportunities at the X. He went 65-for-81 in faceoffs, good for a clip of 80.2 percent, while scooping up a team-best 35 ground balls. He added a goal in IWU’s win over MSOE. Schroeder went an impressive 16-for-17 against MSOE and then 31-of-35 versus Whittier.
The Titans head out east for their spring break trip beginning with a stop at Dickinson College Saturday, March 11. Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET in Carlisle, Pa.
