BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team will hit the road for the first time this season Tuesday, Feb. 28, for a non-conference bout at Benedictine University. Game time is slated for 6 p.m. at Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex in Lisle, Ill.
Both teams will head into the contest in search of their first win of the season, as IWU sits at 0-2 and BU is 0-1. The Titans dropped games to Birmingham-Southern College and Rhodes College, Feb. 17 and 19, respectively, while the Eagles were handed a 14-3 defeat by North Central College, Feb. 24.
Tuesday will mark the third all-time battle between IWU and BU, with the Green and White holding the upperhand, 2-0, in the series. The two teams most recently met April 21, 2018 in Lisle, where the Titans ran away with a 26-15 victory. IWU took the first meeting by a final score of 27-7, March 29, 2017.
Junior Ike Eastburn (Colorado Springs, Colo.-Cheyenne Mountain) and senior Carson Kiichle (Vancouver, Wash.-Skyview) pace the Titan attack with eight points apiece. Eastburn’s team-leading total has come via eight goals, while Carson Kiichle has scored once and assisted seven times. Senior Connor Kiichle (Vancouver, Wash.-Skyview) is not far behind, with three goals and three assists, good for six points.
Carson Kiichle leads the team with 13 ground balls, while junior Michael Campagna (Arlington Heights, Ill.-St. Viator) is second on the squad with 10. Senior Blake Muschewske (Excelsior, Minn.-Holy Family Catholic) has been credited with a team-high five caused turnovers.
At the x, freshman Michael Rocco (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville) has won 17-of-24 faceoffs and sophomore Zo Lombardo (Elgin, Ill.-St. Viator) has gone 12-for-34.
In between the posts, sophomore Colin Tervo (West Linn, Ore.-West Linn) has made a team-best 22 saves on a .489 save percentage.
