The Albany FireWolves (2-6) were defeated by the Las Vegas Desert (3-5), 12-10, at the MVP Arena in Albany on Saturday evening. The FireWolves led by two goals at the end of the third period, but the Desert Dogs were able to shut out Albany in the fourth quarter to come away with a road victory in the Capital Region.

The FireWolves offense was led by Kieran McArdle who tallied 7 points on 2 goals and 5 assists. McArdle continues to lead the Wolves in total points (39) and assists (25), and ranks second overall on the team with 14 goals. Tanner Thomson scored a game-high 4 goals and also added 2 assists for 6 total points. The second-year forward is third on the team with 34 total points and second with 22 assists. Connor Kelly added 5 points on 1 goal and 4 assists. He leads the club with 15 goals on the season and is second overall with 35 points. Both Ethan Walker (2 goals, 1 assist) and John Piatelli (1 goal, 2 assists) scored 3 points each in the game. Hiana Thompson rounded out the FireWolves scoring with 2 points on 2 assists.
Doug Jamieson played solid between the pipes, allowing only 11 goals, and recording 33 saves. The Desert Dogs’ last goal came on an empty net. Jamieson surpassed 3,000 career minutes played in his career in the game.
From the faceoff dot, Zac Tucci went 13 for 26 going exactly 50%.
On defense, Walker and Nick Chaykowsky led the team with 7 loose ball recoveries. Chaykowsky continues to lead the team with 47 loose balls recovered on the season. The defender also caused 3 turnovers in the contest and leads the team with 12 overall. Jackson Nishimura and Aaron Forster each scooped up 6 loose balls on the night. Nishimura ranks third on the Wolves with 43 loose balls on the season. Forster, Brett Manney, Colton Watkinson, Brent Mitchell, and John LaFontaine each caused 1 turnover in the game. Forster and Leo Stouros each blocked 1 shot.
The FireWolves will face the Georgia Swarm each of the next two weekends with the first matchup being played in Georgia.
