Men’s Lacrosse Atop Tight CCIW Preseason Coaches Poll

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team was picked as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin favorite for the seventh straight season as the league office announced its annual coaches poll Friday, Feb. 10.
Illinois Wesleyan, winners of the past four CCIW Regular Season Championships, garnered three first-place votes and a total of 33 points to top the poll. North Central College reeled in three first-place nods and tallied 31 points in second, while Transylvania University ranked third with 25 points and one first-place vote.
Carthage and Elmhurst totaled 22 and 19 points, respectively, to place fourth and fifth in the poll. Augustana (11) and Carroll (6) closed out the poll in sixth and seventh, respectively.
The Titans, led by two-time CCIW Coach of the Year Zach Iannucci, begin the season Friday night, Feb. 17, under the lights at Tucci Stadium against Birmingham Southern College. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
